Your Free Pass to the World of Wine

What is this website for?

Winescholarship.com is your free pass to the world of wine!

My goal is to create a compendium of wine knowledge. You may want to check in every day to see what’s new, or you may just drop in from time to time to search for some specific info that has been eluding you. Hopefully this knowledge will be accessible to everyone, even a total beginner to wine. And I’m hoping that it will also be sophisticated enough to satisfy the true oenophile. If you read something that confuses you, say so in the comments and I’ll do my best to respond.

Why am I doing this?

Wine can be very confusing, and daunting. People often want to charge you money to teach you about it. There are a lot of websites right now that charge just for information. As far as I’m concerned, that’s not how the internet works. Information should be free. That being said, when it comes to tasting, there is no substitute for learning from a person who knows a lot about wine. This website should help, but if you really want to get serious about wine, you need to go to a class. For example, I took the Advanced certificate in wine at the International Wine Center in New York City.  My original idea was to use this blog as a my study tool. I hoped that by teaching all of you the information in the advanced course, I’d learn it backwards and forwards myself. I quickly realized that the information in the course was a huge project that could take me a long time to complete. As I move my way through the world of wine, I’ll blog what I learn here, so everyone can share in the knowledge.

And eventually I’m planning to start my own business doing educational home wine tastings. If you’d like to book me for a tasting, please email me at nick@gorevic.net for details.

Wine Scholarship is a wine blog that educates wine lovers, wine enthusiasts, wine scholars, and anyone else who wants to learn about wine. Wine studies usually cost money. Here, you can study wine for free. Free wine studies is a great thing, isn't it? Here you'll find information about wine making, vinification, grape varieties, vitis vinifera, malolactic fermentation, oak aging, Chardonnay, Riesling, Cabernet-Sauvignon, Merlot, Shiraz, Sauvignon Blanc, Napa, Eden Valley, Clare Valley, Malrborough, Bourdeaux, Burgundy, French wines, Italian wines, Spanish wines, and more. Wine tasting is something that can be hard to do if you don't have a professor teaching you how to drink and how to taste. While this website will be helpful in your studying, you should always seek the advice of a professional if you really want to get serious about a career in wine.
