Your Free Pass to the World of Wine

What is this website for?

Winescholarship.com is your free pass to the world of wine!

Winescholarship.com is my personal space to geek out about wine. If you’re a wine professional, or are very serious about wine drinking, what I write may be of interest to you. Or sometimes it may not. That’s because I use this blog as a study tool to remember things that I learn about wine. It helps me remember things to write them down. I’m always taking some kind of class, or trying to remember new things, and the act of trying to put things in my own words to teach someone else always makes me remember things really well. The secondary goal is to create a compendium of wine knowledge. You may want to check in every day to see what’s new, or you may just drop in from time to time to search for some specific info that has been eluding you.

If you’re new to wine and are looking to learn the basics, you’ll probably happier reading my educational blog on HomeWineSchool.com.

Why am I doing this?

Wine can be very confusing, and daunting. People often want to charge you money to teach you about it. There are a lot of websites right now that charge just for information. As far as I’m concerned, that’s not how the internet works. Information should be free. That being said, when it comes to tasting, there is no substitute for learning from a person who knows a lot about wine. This website should help, but if you really want to get serious about wine, you need to go to a class. For example, I took the Advanced certificate in wine at the International Wine Center in New York City.   Right now I’m taking a class in Vinification and Viticulture given by the American Sommelier Association, that will last until December 2008. As I move my way through the world of wine, I’ll blog what I learn here, so everyone can share in the knowledge.

If you live in the New York City area, you can book me to come to your home and teach you in person about all the things you read about on this site, and more. You can learn more about my home classes at HomeWineSchool.com.
